Assessment and Rehabilitation  Neuropsychological

Neuropsychological Assessment

Your doctor or psychologist may have ordered a Neuropsychological Assessment. But after all, what is this?
It is a “portrait” of how you are and how your cognition works. This technical scientific process carried out by a specialist, the neuropsychologist, collects data, studies and interprets information regarding psychological phenomena.

Tests, interviews, data analysis and clinical observations are used.
It can be performed on children, adults and the elderly.

Based on the neuropsychological assessment, we may or may not have an indication to carry out neuropsychological rehabilitation.

Neuropsychological Rehabilitation

The main objective is to assist in the treatment of cognitive and behavioral changes by increasing  autonomy and functional independence, to the highest possible level.

Therapeutic activities are planned for each person’s specific needs.

It is recommended for people who have had a stroke, stroke, Alzheimer's and other dementias, Parkinson's disease, learning disorders, among other cognitive disorders. And also for those who want to activate their best skills preventively.

Suitable for all age groups.

Rehabilitation and Neurocognitive Stimulation for the Elderly

The main objective is to assist in the treatment of cognitive and behavioral changes by increasing  autonomy and functional independence, to the highest possible level.

Neurocognitive Rehabilitation is a non-pharmacological intervention, normally occurring after a neuropsychological assessment and medical evaluation.

Its objectives are to improve the patient's self-esteem and quality of life, delay the progression of the disease and functional decline, as well as reduce cognitive difficulties.

For patients diagnosed with MCI (mild cognitive impairment), this intervention is indicated to slow the progression to dementia.

Stimulating the brain is essential to ward off health problems that normally arise in this life cycle. In neurocognitive stimulation, exercises are carried out that will stimulate or train different mental skills such as attention, temporal and spatial orientation, memory, language, logical reasoning and problem solving. Stimulating these skills prevents the emergence of neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia and cerebrovascular diseases.

Neurocognitive Rehabilitation for ADHD

The main objective is to assist in the treatment of cognitive and behavioral changes by increasing  autonomy and functional independence, to the highest possible level.

Some brain functions may appear altered in patients with ADHD. One of them is nonverbal working memory. She is responsible for retaining information, as well as self-knowledge of her abilities.

This change in patients diagnosed with this disorder presents: forgetting what they were going to do before acting, finding it exhausting to participate in tasks that have several stages; have difficulty learning from the mistakes and successes of others and their own; as a result, he cannot predict the consequences of his actions; and therefore finds it difficult to visualize and plan long-term goals.

If you have identified yourself, then look for a specialist.

 Post Covid Cognitive Rehabilitation

The main objective is to assist in the treatment of cognitive and behavioral changes by increasing  autonomy and functional independence, to the highest possible level.

With more than 11 million individuals cured of Covid-19 in Brazil to date, it is fair to be concerned about a possible underlying, quieter epidemic. We are talking about post-Covid syndrome. Data from research by INCOR (Hospital das Clínicas), 8 out of 10 patients who had symptoms suffer from cognitive dysfunction. This happens because executive function is affected in people who have already contracted Sars-Cov-2. This function, in a healthy person, makes the person plan the day and seek strategies to solve problems. If the person loses this function or if it becomes compromised, it can interfere with work and social relationships, and, as a result, lead to depression, anxiety, anguish and aggression.

The sooner COGNITIVE REHABILITATION begins - Post Covid, the faster the recovery will be and, consequently, the lower the mental, emotional, physical and social damage for these people. The condition can be reversed through specific cognitive exercises that function as “mental muscle training”. By forcing brain activity, the organ is stimulated to greater oxygen consumption, improving its performance.

Due to this situation, we carry out a multidimensional assessment, with the patient and family, with the aim of detecting the main complaints and creating a rehabilitation plan, which is unique for each patient.

Home Care and Elderly Care

The main objective is to assist in the treatment of cognitive and behavioral changes by increasing  autonomy and functional independence, to the highest possible level.

According to the Brazilian Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology, one third of the population suffers from at least one fall per year. Such accidents can result in injuries, sprains and even fractures, reducing day-to-day functional abilities.

Because of this, we have a specialized professional who provides home care and carries out an assessment, to assist with the main care and adaptations necessary to preserve the elderly's functionality, such as: having an accessible kitchen, bathrooms with adequate safety bars, stress-free rooms.
